Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field Inspector to conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, or suppression life safety systems. You will work with low voltage wiring, document inspections, and perform minor repairs as needed.

Expect to follow a structured schedule, use a laptop for reporting, and train less experienced inspectors. Travel, weekends, and lifting up to 70 lbs may be required in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools and multimeter usage.
• Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing repairs.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of physical labor up to 50-70 lbs.
• Willing to travel, including overnight lodging.
• NICET certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical, sprinkler, or suppression life safety product lines and similar competing products.
• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices to operate equipment.
• Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding via laptop or paper.
• Maintain a structured inspection schedule and document findings.
• Make minor repairs and programming changes; provide on-the-job training to junior inspectors.
