The 911 Emergency Communications team in Hessel, MI is seeking Fire Dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, and other emergencies. You will verify locations, alert responding units, and maintain radio discipline during incidents.

This role requires strong organization, clear communication, and the ability to handle high-stress situations. Shift work may include overnights, weekends, holidays, and overtime to support major incidents.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is commonly required.
• Some employers provide entry-level instruction and training.
• Comfort with computer systems, data entry, maps, and radio communication.

Responsabilités

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazards.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
