Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in West Olive, MI is seeking Fire Dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, and hazards. You will receive incident information, verify locations, alert responding units, and maintain radio contact with crews.

This role requires strong organizational skills, accurate data entry, and the ability to operate computer systems and maps under pressure. Shifts may include overnight hours, weekends, and overtime to cover major incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is commonly required.
• Fire dispatch certification or EMS training may be required for certain assignments.
• Comfort with computer systems, accurate data entry, maps and radio communication.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazards.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
