Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Technician in Gainesville, FL. The role involves programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and coordinating with sales and project teams to ensure sound design and successful installation of our fire alarm solutions.

Ideal candidates will have 2–5 years in the fire-life safety field, NICET I, and the ability to read system drawings. A valid driver's license and OSHA 10 are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–5 years in a fire-life safety tech role.
• Ability to program and commission mid-range fire alarm systems independently.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings.
• NICET I certification.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management and sales for successful delivery.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs.
• Program and commission complex fire alarm systems to AHJ acceptance.
• Create detailed commissioning and inspection reports per NFPA.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Program systems via laptop computers.
• Assist in project inventory and vehicle inventory.
• Provide guidance to other technicians and manage job scheduling and progress with cost awareness.
• Demonstrate equipment operation and proper responses to system signals.
• Follow Sciens safety programs and procedures.
