Job summary

Tech Electronics is seeking a Service Technician – Fire Alarm to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems at customer locations. You will diagnose issues, complete service calls, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure systems operate safely and in compliance with codes and manufacturer requirements.

Qualifications

• NICET certification or progress toward certification.
• Experience with multiple fire alarm manufacturers and platforms.
• Fire alarm inspection and testing experience.
• Experience with access control, security, or other low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable local codes.
• Previous experience in a service technician or field service role.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and service fire alarm and life safety systems.
• Identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Install, program, replace, and modify fire alarm components as needed.
• Work with fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, modules, detectors, and related equipment.
• Read and interpret system drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
• Use test equipment and diagnostic tools to identify problems.
• Verify proper operation of repaired systems.
• Document service work, deficiencies, repairs, and materials used.
• Communicate findings clearly to customers, project managers, and internal teams.
• Ensure work adheres to codes, standards, manufacturer specifications, and procedures.
• Maintain tools, equipment, inventory, and company vehicle.
• Participate in on-call or emergency service rotations.
