Job summary

Summit Fire & Security is seeking a Fire Alarm & Security Technician in Richmond, VA to install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire protection systems. Expect working with various fire alarm components and documenting work orders in a fast-paced field role.

The role requires 2 years of Fire Life Safety experience and ability to travel locally up to 90%. NICET certification is preferred, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• NICET or state-specific certification is preferred.
• 2 years Fire Life Safety Industry experience, specifically in Fire Alarm, required.
• 2 years of professional computer skills, preferred.
• Must be able to travel 90% of the time, locally.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire alarm and security systems with minimal supervision.
• Use tools and test equipment to repair or replace components.
• Troubleshoot faults in fire alarm systems and fix accordingly.
• Communicate with customers and monitoring companies professionally.
• Complete documentation on work orders and use Field Service Lightning where applicable.
• Attend seminars/trainings to stay current with codes and standards.
• Train service technician trainees on applicable aspects of fire protection.
