Job summary

Summit Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Alarm & Security Technician in Saint Cloud, MN to install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire alarm and security systems with minimal supervision. The role requires hands-on repair of FACP, power supplies, initiating devices, and participation in safety programs.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, 2 years in Fire Life Safety, and English proficiency. NICET certification is preferred; occasional travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET or state-specific certification preferred.
• 2 years Fire Life Safety Industry experience required, specifically in Fire Alarm.
• Must read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Occasional travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot fault conditions in fire alarm systems, including ground faults.
• Repair or replace damaged fire alarm components (FACP, power supply, initiating devices).
• Understand and work with different manufacturers’ clean agent and high‑pressure suppression systems.
• Use test equipment (multimeter, megger) and laptop to program/repair components.
• Maintain knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards.
• Program and manage fire alarm systems during component removal or replacement.
• Safely handle explosive actuators and maintain safety procedures on site.
• Communicate with customers and monitoring companies professionally.
• Complete work orders and documentation in Field Service Lightning.
• Follow company safety programs and participate in toolbox talks.
• Keep company vehicle clean and maintainable per policy.
• Be available for on-call emergencies as required.
• Attend seminars to stay updated on technology and standards.
