Job summary

Wachter, Inc. is hiring a Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control Service Technician to service retail locations nationwide. The role requires independent problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to travel.

A Michigan fire alarm license and field experience are essential, with NICET certification preferred. You'll install and service low-voltage systems, read blueprints, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• Fire Alarm Specialty Technician License for Michigan.
• Field installation experience in Fire Alarm/Intrusion/Access Control.
• NICET certification preferred.
• Current/valid security or life safety license in applicable tech.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 and 72.
• Read blueprints and site maps; operate at heights 20'–60'.
• Able to travel up to 20–30% and work flexible shifts including overnights.
• Excellent customer communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair cabling, IP video, and access control systems.
• Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings and drill through walls.
• Ensure wiring and terminations meet contractual requirements.
• Install or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels.
• Mount sensors, drill holes, access crawl spaces or attics as needed.
• Verify systems comply with electrical codes and fire codes.
• Test newly installed systems for operational readiness.
• Follow safety requirements and assist project scheduling.
• Collaborate with team leads and project managers on-site and remotely.
