Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Detection Service Technician 2 to diagnose and repair electronic fire alarm systems at customer sites in the Honolulu area. You will interpret blueprints, troubleshoot, and perform service/repairs with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

The role involves on-call rotation, potential overnight travel, and opportunities to mentor teammates while supporting safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• Proficient with computers.
• Capable of following verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends.
• Overnight travel may be required.
• Demonstrates strong customer service.
• Maintain vehicle inventory and safety compliance.
• Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and learning ability.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Retain licenses required by codes.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls and brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
• Contact customer representative to ascertain problems.
• Diagnose problems and perform service/repairs on fire alarm systems at customer sites.
• Follow troubleshooting procedures and manuals to repair equipment.
• Service and install systems including SimplexGrinnell.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
• Exhibit excellent customer service and ensure satisfaction.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding.
• Obtain customer signature after service call.
• Participate in on-call rotation and mentor others.
• Provide solutions to improve facility efficiency and upsell where appropriate.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
