Fire Alarm & Life Safety Service Technician

As a Fire/Life Safety Service Technician, you will ensure the safety and efficiency of these buildings by servicing and maintaining fire alarm and sprinkler systems, performing inspections, repairs, and ensuring compliance with all standards. You will also mentor entry-level technicians, promoting a culture of growth and knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct testing and inspections of systems under maintenance agreements, preparing detailed reports aligned with code requirements and customer needs.
• Respond promptly to service calls, troubleshoot issues, and execute repairs to maintain system functionality.
• Identify and report code and non-conformance issues.
• Quote minor repair jobs and assist in estimating larger projects.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, backflow preventers, fire hydrants, and fire pumps.
• Document deficiencies and follow reporting procedures.
• Adhere to safety policies and maintain accurate documentation of all work performed.
• Manage vehicle, tools, and equipment inventory.
• Mentor lower-level technicians and support team growth.

Qualifications:

Basic:

• 2+ years of experience with commercial Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Systems.
• Technician endorsement for sprinkler system maintenance inspection.
• NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 12 months.
• Ability to differentiate wire types/colors, use tools, and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces.
• Frequent travel to Northern NJ and NYC.
• Valid driver’s license and legal work authorization in the US.

Preferred:

• High school diploma or higher education.
• NICET II certification or higher.
• S-98 Certificate of Fitness for NYC.
• Over 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to interpret design and construction documents.
