Job summary

Ellis Fire Suppression in Woburn, MA, part of the DU Family of Companies, is hiring a Fire Alarm Apprentice to install, program, maintain, inspect, and repair fire alarm systems in commercial and residential settings.

Ideal candidates have a MA Fire Alarm Technician license, at least two years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer service while adhering to codes and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Valid Fire Alarm Technician license as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • At least two years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to following established safety procedures and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Install and program fire alarm systems, including panels, sensors, and related components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and resolve fire alarm system issues and potential deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty fire alarm systems and components.
  • Ensure fire alarm systems comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Provide professional customer service by answering questions and addressing fire-safety concerns.
  • Respond to emergency service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and system specifications.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Fire Alarm Apprentice to ourWoburn, MAteam. This role is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Success in this role requires technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, effective customer service, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Lift and carry equipment, tools, and system components.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Work in commercial and residential environments, including offices, schools, hotels, and industrial sites.
  • Work outdoors with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Work in construction and industrial environments with exposure to dust and noise.
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
COMPENSATION

The wage for this role is $20 to $25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
