Job summary

Visa is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead and scale engineering teams within the VERA organization. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable fintech platforms and fostering an inclusive engineering culture.

You will collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, Risk, and Compliance to establish best practices, drive Agile/DevSecOps, and ensure high standards of quality and regulatory compliance. Offices are in Bellevue, WA with a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR 13+ years.
• Experience leading software engineering teams in fintech or regulated environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams and managers.
• Drive execution, operational excellence, and delivery predictability across complex tech initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders to define roadmaps, priorities, and technology strategy.
• Champion Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and engineering best practices.
• Build and scale high-performing teams through hiring, mentoring, and succession planning.
• Oversee software architecture, platform modernization, and cloud-native adoption.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Drive responsible adoption of AI-powered engineering tools and emerging tech.
• Lead incident management and continuous improvement to enhance resilience.
