Job summary

FinOps Weekly is seeking a senior FinOps leader to drive centralized governance across a global, multi-cloud footprint, optimizing spend in GCP and AWS, and improving cloud cost visibility and forecasting.

You will own AI-related cloud costs, build unit economics for shared resources, mentor the FinOps team, and partner with Finance, Engineering, and Product to deliver TCO reporting and strategic vendor negotiations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in technology operations, procurement, or cloud finance.
  • 2–3 years of formal people management or leadership.
  • Ability to work across Finance, DevOps/SRE, R&D, and Product.
  • Production experience with GCP and AWS, including billing and discounts.
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, serverless compute, and storage lifecycle.
  • Translate cloud architecture into unit economics and cost optimizations.
  • Experience negotiating high-value international contracts.
  • Familiarity with AI cost drivers and model training costs.
  • Strong stakeholder management, adaptability, and communication.

Job description

About the Role

This role is responsible for leading centralized FinOps governance across a global, multi-cloud environment, with a strong focus on optimizing spend in GCP and AWS. It exists to improve cloud cost visibility, strengthen forecasting, and build clearer unit economics for shared resources and product usage. A major part of the position is managing the financial side of the AI roadmap. That includes tracking current model usage costs and building the financial framework for future custom model development and training. The role works closely with Finance, Engineering, DevOps/SRE, R&D, Product, and global leadership. It also includes ownership of vendor relationships and team leadership, with responsibility for developing and mentoring the FinOps team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cloud financial governance and optimization across an international multi-cloud footprint.
  • Build and maintain allocation models for shared cloud resources and multi-tenant usage.
  • Own cloud budgets, third‑party hosting licenses, forecasting, variance analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Manage the financial impact of AI usage today and future custom model build and training costs.
  • Lead global vendor negotiations, contract renewals, and strategic technology partnerships.
  • Partner with Finance and Engineering leaders to deliver cloud TCO reporting and margin visibility.
  • Develop, coach, and support the growth of the FinOps team.
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in technology operations, procurement, or cloud finance.
  • 2–3 years of formal people management or leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to work across Finance, DevOps/SRE, R&D, and Product while supporting delivery speed.
  • Production experience with GCP and AWS, including billing, commitment models, and discount structures.
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes resource management, serverless compute, storage lifecycle tiering, and managed databases.
  • Ability to translate cloud architecture into unit economics and cost optimization decisions.
  • Background in negotiating high‑value international contracts in decentralized organizations.
  • Familiarity with AI cost drivers, including API token usage and compute‑intensive model training.
  • Strong stakeholder management, adaptability, analytical problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with global teams through written channels and video conferencing.
  • Strong presentation and leadership skills with clear, concise communication.

Compensation
  • US base salary: **$155,400–$244,200 USD**
  • Additional compensation may include bonus, commission, equity, and other benefits.
  • Final compensation depends on work location, qualifications, skills, experience, and/or training.
