Job summary

FinOps Weekly seeks a Cloud FinOps Engineer to bridge finance and cloud operations. You will manage AWS/Azure cost accruals, allocate charges, and develop cost reporting for product teams.

You will build KPIs, governance, and templates to improve visibility and accountability across cloud spend, collaborating with Finance, Operations, and Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, CS or equivalent.
  • 4–8 years of IT experience.
  • 3+ years of enterprise cloud platform experience with AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, services, and usage models across network and compute.
  • Experience creating governance for cloud spend.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process and allocate AWS accruals and month-end cloud billing for all cloud accounts.
  • Allocate usage-based charges to IT business partners and business units.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs for real-time cost, consumption, and product-level visibility.
  • Create and deploy costing templates for products and services.
  • Build self-service cloud cost reporting for product teams and end users.
  • Design and maintain tagging strategies for shared cloud services and cost accountability.
  • Monitor budgets, overages, and cost trends; create tools to support cost oversight.
  • Calculate and allocate chargeback, Reserved Instance, and Savings Plan amortization monthly.

It is designed for a technologist who can work across finance and cloud disciplines to support cost management, allocation, and reporting for the company’s AWS cloud accounts.The position is responsible for processing AWS accruals and month-end cloud charges, allocating usage-based costs to IT business partners and business units, and supporting cloud costing models for leadership. It also serves as a liaison for cloud consumers across operations, development, engineering, architecture, and business teams by providing cost estimates, budget insight, and run-rate analysis.In addition to day-to-day cloud cost management, the role supports FinOps program development, governance, tooling, training, and continuous improvement.
