Job summary

MSR Technology Group in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced FinOps engineer to own automation and cloud-cost optimization. The role combines AWS engineering with FinOps to mature the team's practices.

You will automate VPC endpoint cleanup, drive Kinesis on-demand tuning, enforce S3 lifecycle policies, and lead Graviton migrations for Lambdas, with Python automation and Git workflows. Qualifications

• Balanced 50/50 background in AWS engineering and FinOps.
• Hands-on cloud cost optimization experience (actual savings).
• Python (hard requirement) for automation and integrations, including AWS Lambda.
• AWS cost tools: Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor.
• Cloudability for dashboards/reporting.
• Knowledge of AWS services in scope: VPC endpoints, Kinesis, S3 lifecycle policies, Graviton, tagging.
• Comfortable with merge requests and Git-based workflows across app teams.

Responsibilities

• Take over FinOps automation work and mature the engineering side of the team.
• Automate cleanup of unused VPC endpoints and create merge requests across app teams.
• Drive Kinesis on-demand optimization and S3 lifecycle policy enforcement, incl. AI agent support.
• Lead Graviton migrations for workloads/Lambdas at enterprise scale.
• Build automation around cloud tagging standards.
• Write Python automation/integrations (Lambdas via templates).
• Build Cloudability dashboards with AI/token usage reporting tied to consumers.
• Query Athena cost and usage tables as needed.
