Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, LLC is seeking a Financial Operations Engineer in a remote capacity to optimize AWS spend while maintaining performance, reliability, and security. The role turns cloud usage data into financial insight and builds dashboards, automation, and governance to support cost-conscious cloud delivery across engineering, finance, and leadership.

You will forecast usage, improve cost allocation, and establish FinOps best practices, collaborating with engineering and finance partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or cloud engineering (AWS focus).
• Deep understanding of AWS pricing models (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS).
• Hands-on with cost tools (Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets).
• Experience with at least one FinOps platform or BI tool.
• IaC experience (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Able to translate usage into financial insight for engineers and finance leaders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze AWS spend and provide clear financial insights.
• Build dashboards, automation, and governance for cost optimization.
• Forecast spend, budgeting, and variance analysis with Finance.
• Set up cost anomaly detection and remediation workflows.
• Improve cost allocation via tagging and governance.
