The Opportunity
Synergy Search is conducting a confidential search for a Financial Operations Manager on behalf of a private equity backed, multi site healthcare services organization. This is a hybrid accounting and finance leadership seat: you will run the close and reporting for your business unit, lead a small accounting team, and act as the go to finance partner for the operators running the business.
If you are a finance leader who wants a real voice in operating decisions, enjoys turning numbers into action, and likes building a team that moves the business forward, this is the seat.
Why This Role Stands Out
- A seat at the table. You function as the finance lead for your business unit, working directly alongside senior operations leadership on strategy and decisions.
- Visible impact. Your analysis and guidance will directly shape how the business grows and performs over the next year.
- Accounting plus finance. Own the numbers and the story behind them, from the monthly close to budgets, forecasts, and operational insight.
- Build and lead a team. Develop a team of accountants and help shape the bench as the business scales.
- Growth backed by private equity. A fast moving, well capitalized organization that invests in its people, processes, and technology.
- Flexibility. Hybrid schedule with two days in office and three days remote.
What You Will Own
- Lead the month end close for your business unit and review the work for accuracy and timeliness
- Own the monthly reporting cycle, including operating results versus budget and prior periods
- Drive the annual budget and rolling forecasts in partnership with operations leaders
- Serve as the finance advisor to operators, translating financial results into clear, practical recommendations
- Analyze variances, flag risks early, and push for corrective action when results drift
- Identify cost savings, efficiency gains, and process improvements across the business unit
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff and interns
- Build ad hoc analysis and models to support operating decisions
- Maintain strong internal controls and report results to internal and external stakeholders
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 to 10+ years of experience, with a public accounting foundation followed by a move into finance or industry
- At least one year of direct people management experience, including developing and reviewing the work of accountants
- Solid accounting depth to own and review the close, not just consume the results
- Experience partnering closely with operations teams, not only building models
- Enjoys the monthly reporting rhythm and owning it end to end
- Confident communicator who can explain financials to non financial leaders and is comfortable having direct conversations
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLookup, pivot tables, and ad hoc modeling
- Responsive to operations partners when the business needs it, including occasional evenings or weekends
What Sets You Apart
- Multi site healthcare experience, such as dental, physician practice, or other provider groups
- Background at a fast growing, private equity backed company
- Experience working with cloud based accounting systems is a plus
