The Opportunity
Synergy Search is conducting a confidential search for a Financial Operations Manager on behalf of a PE backed healthcare services organization that is scaling fast. You will own the monthly close and reporting cycle for a division, lead the accounting team behind it, and act as the finance voice in the room with senior operations leadership.
If you are a finance or accounting professional who wants to be a true business partner, not a model builder tucked behind the scenes, this is the seat.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Operational CFO seat. You advise the executives who run the division and your analysis shapes real decisions.
- Visible turnaround opportunity. The division faces a demanding growth year, and a strong finance leader can directly influence where it lands next.
- Build your own team. You lead a Senior and Staff Accountant and shape how the group develops and scales.
- Platform company momentum. A PE backed environment with the pace, resources, and leadership access that come with it.
- Direct line to leadership. You report to a Director who is building his own team and values input from his managers.
- Flexibility. Hybrid schedule with two days in office, plus a full benefits package and 401(k) match.
What You Will Own
- Own the month end close and the monthly reporting cycle for the division
- Review the work of a Senior and Staff Accountant and develop both through coaching and formal reviews
- Lead budgets and forecasts, and hold the business accountable to them
- Analyze variances and recommend corrective action in plain language operators can act on
- Partner daily with operations leaders on cost, performance, and resourcing decisions
- Challenge assumptions and have direct conversations with non financial stakeholders
- Build ad hoc models and reporting that answer the questions leadership is actually asking
- Strengthen internal controls, documentation, and efficiency across the division
What You Need
- Prior people management experience. This is not a first time manager seat
- Public accounting foundation with a move into industry finance
- Enough accounting depth to review the close and the work of a Senior and Staff Accountant
- Experience supporting an operations team, not only building models in isolation
- Comfortable owning a recurring monthly reporting cadence
- Advanced Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, and ad hoc modeling
- Ability to translate financial concepts for non financial leaders and push back when needed
What Sets You Apart
- 5 to 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Multi site healthcare services experience, especially where data is imperfect
- Background at a fast growing, PE backed company
- Experience supporting a business through a tough growth period
- Cloud ERP experience is a plus
Good to Know
- Hybrid schedule, two days per week in office
- Periodic travel to sites
