Job description

Greater Michigan Oral Surgeons & Dental Implant Center (GMOS) is a private equity-backed, multi-site oral surgery platform being built to define the category—not participate in it. The model combines best-in-class clinical talent with centralized infrastructure and operational discipline—scaling the platform without compromising quality, reputation, or clinical autonomy. GMOS delivers high-acuity care through a standardized, performance-driven operating model that drives consistency and results across every location. Strong referral relationships, advanced surgical capabilities, and a premium patient experience are embedded in how the business operates every day. At a true inflection point and backed by private equity, GMOS is building the infrastructure and leadership required to become the leading platform in a highly fragmented market—with a clear vision for what a modern oral surgery platform should look like at scale.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a rare opportunity to build a finance function from the ground up within a high-growth, private equity-backed healthcare platform at a true inflection point. You will step in as the senior-most finance leader, with full ownership of creating the systems, reporting, and discipline required to scale into a large, multi-site healthcare platform. This is not a role where you inherit a team or infrastructure—you will build it from zero. You will operate as a true player-coach, working with a lean team while personally driving critical initiatives across accounting, FP&A, cash management, and M&A integration. You will partner directly with the CEO and investors, bringing visibility to performance and enabling faster, smarter decisions across the organization.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and execute the monthly close process (target: ~7–10 business days)
  • Establish structure, rigor, and accountability across close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Ensure clean, audit-ready financials and strong general ledger integrity across all entities
  • Lead ongoing clean-up and standardization efforts as the platform scales
  • Drive a cash-focused mindset across the business — ensuring visibility into cash flow, not just EBITDA
  • Oversee cash reconciliation processes and ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Partner with leadership to ensure the business is operating to positive cash flow and strong working capital discipline
  • Build simple, effective reporting around cash, collections, and financial performance
Revenue Cycle & Operational Finance
  • Maintain strong oversight of RCM performance, including:
  • Collections trends
  • AR aging and follow-up
  • Revenue leakage and process gaps
  • Partner closely with billing/RCM teams to ensure proactive performance management, not reactive reporting
  • Understand and track key drivers of performance at the site and provider level
Financial Reporting & Business Insight
  • Deliver monthly financial packages with clear variance analysis and actionable insights
  • Go beyond the numbers — identify trends, ask questions, and highlight risks/opportunities
  • Support board and investor reporting with accurate, well-supported data
M&A Integration & Scale
  • Support financial diligence processes by preparing data and responding to requests
  • Lead or support post-close integration, including:
  • Opening balance sheets
  • Integrating acquisitions into reporting processes
  • Help build repeatable processes for onboarding new acquisitions
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Leverage existing systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar) to improve reporting and efficiency
  • Drive process improvements across accounting, reporting, and data integrity
  • Help the organization transition from early-stage processes to scalable, institutional-grade infrastructure
Controls, Audit & Compliance
  • Maintain appropriate accounting policies and internal controls for a PE-backed business
  • Support audit processes and ensure readiness at all times
  • Partner with external advisors on tax and compliance matters
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA strongly preferred with a strong technical accounting foundation
  • 6–12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Experience in multi-site healthcare, MSO, or physician services environments strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment
  • Demonstrated experience:
  • Driving clean-up of financials and improving accounting rigor
  • Managing cash flow and cash reconciliation with a high degree of accuracy
  • Partnering with or overseeing revenue cycle / collections performance
  • Supporting or leading M&A integrations, including opening balance sheets and onboarding
