Synergy Search is conducting a confidential search for a Controller for a private equity backed, multi-state healthcare services organization in a strong growth phase. Based in the Nashville area, you will own the close, reporting, and controls, building the accounting playbook the business needs for its next stage of scale.

• 3+ years as a Controller in healthcare, with comparable scale.
• Experience scaling a finance function through growth phases and multi-site structures.
• Experience in a multi-state, PE-backed organization with close SOPs and approval hierarchies.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities and states.
• Document close with SOPs and a tiered approval hierarchy.
• Lead ERP implementation: COA design, data migration, workflows, controls, reporting.
• Manage ASC 606, ASC 842, and fixed asset processes.
• Coordinate with audits, actuaries, brokers, and advisors on reserves.
• Present results to board and PE sponsor.
• Develop and mentor a lean accounting team.

Synergy Search is conducting a confidential search for a Controller on behalf of a private equity backed, multi state healthcare services organization in a strong growth phase. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the close, reporting, and controls while building the accounting playbook the business needs for its next stage of scale.

If you have scaled a healthcare accounting function before and want to do it again with real ownership and a seat in front of the board, this is the seat.

What You Will Own

• The monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities and states, with financials out within 10 business days
• Documenting the close with SOPs and building a tiered approval hierarchy with centralized AP
• Helping lead the ERP implementation: chart of accounts design, data migration, workflows, controls, and reporting
• The major accruals: self insured medical, workers' comp, and auto claims (IBNR), AR reserves, and bonus
• Building and running ASC 606, ASC 842, and fixed asset processes
• Partnering with revenue cycle on contractual allowances, payer mix, and reimbursement accounting
• A new monthly operating report with visibility down to the market level
• The annual audit, plus coordination with actuaries, brokers, and outside advisors on reserve adequacy
• Presenting results to the board and private equity sponsor
• Leading and developing a lean accounting team as a player coach

What You Need

• 3+ years as a Controller (5+ preferred), with your current or most recent seat at a healthcare company of roughly $300M to $500M in revenue
• Has helped scale a company through major growth (for example, $200M to $500M) and brings that playbook with you
• Multiple stops in healthcare, with exposure to different accounting structures and setups
• Experience in a multi site, multi state, private equity backed organization
• Has personally built close SOPs and approval hierarchies
• Has owned self insured accruals (medical, workers' comp, auto), AR reserves, ASC 606, and ASC 842
• Comfortable presenting to a board and private equity sponsor
• Player coach who develops a lean team and still works in the details
• Lives within a daily commute of Brentwood/Franklin, TN

What Sets You Apart

• 3 to 5 years in public accounting audit before moving to industry
• Has lived in NetSuite, ideally through a full implementation
• Provider side healthcare experience, especially multi site healthcare services
• Acquisition support experience, including diligence, purchase accounting, and integration, is a plus

Good to Know

• Primarily in office in the Brentwood/Franklin area, with flexibility for one remote day per week
