Job summary

United Way Monterey County is seeking an in-person Financial Empowerment Center Navigator to guide individuals toward financial stability. You will build trusted relationships, conduct intake, and connect clients to counseling, education, VITA, benefits, and housing resources.

You will manage a caseload, perform referrals, document outcomes, and support program operations as needed, ensuring coordinated care and ongoing client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience in navigation, case management, coaching, community services, outreach, benefits access, workforce development, housing, financial capability, education, or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating services across multiple organizations.
• Experience using motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practices, strengths-based coaching, and culturally responsive service delivery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with participants and provide individualized navigation using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.
• Conduct initial conversations to understand priorities, strengths, barriers, immediate needs, and longer-term goals.
• Support participants in setting goals and developing an individualized pathway to services and resources.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with participants through follow-up, encouragement, problem-solving, and accountability.
• Develop referral relationships with service partners and coordinate referrals through SRN and other systems.
• Receive referrals, complete intake, and connect participants to UWMC or partner services.
• Document participant activity in SRN and other databases for reporting.
• Track caseload activity, progress, and performance measures.
