1LUX is a holding company overseeing four lighting-related subsidiaries, with combined annual revenue of approximately $24 million. Our portfolio of brands is supported by a lean, high-performing team of 19 employees and 4 partners. We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Controller to own the financial operations across our subsidiary structure and help build the infrastructure to support continued growth.
The Role
1LUX is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations across our four subsidiaries. This role will manage a Senior Accountant (3 years with the company) and a part-time Accounts Payable support person, while working closely with ownership on financial reporting, consolidations, and process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for a Controller who enjoys multi-entity accounting and wants a seat at the table in a growing, entrepreneurial organization.
- Own month-end and year-end close processes across all four subsidiaries
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements for the holding company and each subsidiary
- Manage, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant and part-time AP Specialist
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
- Maintain and improve internal controls across entities
- Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting for the group
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax preparers, auditors, and banking relationships
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with leadership and partners
- Own and optimize NetSuite as the company's ERP system, including reporting, workflows, and multi-entity configuration
- Identify and implement process improvements to scale accounting operations as the company grows
- Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, and drive efficiency across the close, reporting, and AP/AR processes
- Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting to support strategic decision-making by ownership
Qualifications
- 8-12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
- Experience managing accounting across multiple entities or subsidiaries strongly preferred
- Required: hands-on experience with NetSuite
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA preferred, not required
- Strong people management skills with experience leading and developing direct reports
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable working directly with owners/partners
- High attention to detail balanced with the ability to see the big picture across a multi-brand organization
- Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Interest in exploring and applying AI tools to improve efficiency in accounting and finance operations
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $115,000-$125,000, commensurate with experience
