Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Financial Aid Awarding Specialist to manage the complete aid lifecycle for CAPS undergrads and grads. You will evaluate aid applications, apply professional judgement, and maintain records for audits.

You will be the primary CAPS contact for financial aid, represent the university at events, and stay current on regulatory changes while collaborating with Accounting Services and the CAPS Prison Education Program team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience.
• 3 years of relevant work experience.
• No specific certification required.

Responsibilities

• Manages the complete financial aid lifecycle for CAPS undergrad and graduate programs.
• Evaluates applications and awards federal/state/institutional aid in policy.
• Exercises professional judgement for unique circumstances.
• Maintains meticulous student records for audits.
• Primary contact for CAPS students regarding financial aid and payments.
• RepresentSFS/ CAPS at events and orientations to promote transparency.
• Stay current on regulations via associations and training.
• Collaborate with Accounting Services on written-off accounts and reports.
• Reconcile payments, tuition and fees.
• Assist students with billing questions and inquiries.
• Analyze student accounts for refunds per policy.
• Serve as primary contact for WashU Prison Education Program.
• Support FAFSA completion and Pell awarding for this population.
• Coordinate with CAPS team to clarify policies and aid strategies.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and other duties.
