Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Financial Aid Awarding Specialist to manage the complete financial aid lifecycle for CAPS undergrad and graduate programs. You will evaluate applications, award aid, and serve as the primary contact for CAPS students and the Prison Education Program.

You will collaborate with CAPS and Accounting Services, stay current on regulations, and participate in university events to support student recruitment and retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in financial aid.
• Experience with federal, state and institutional aid regulations.
• Proficiency with financial aid software and systems.

Responsibilities

• Manages the complete financial aid lifecycle for CAPS undergrad and graduate students.
• Evaluates applications and awards federal, state, and institutional aid in compliance with regulations.
• Exercises professional judgement for non-traditional student circumstances.
• Maintains meticulous student records for audits.
• Acts as primary contact for CAPS students on financial aid and payment questions.
• Represents CAPS at university events to promote financial transparency.
• Keeps current on evolving financial aid regulations via associations and trainings.
• Collaborates with Accounting Services to manage written off accounts and internal reports.
