Responsibilities

  • Respond to financial aid inquiries in person, by mail, electronically, or by phone.
  • Assist with FAFSA import and verification of student files.
  • Review and award institutional, state, and external scholarships.
  • Monitor enrollment and adjust awards as necessary.
  • Maintain work-study contracts and post job descriptions online and on campus.
  • Cross-train to assist with customer service within the Student Services Department.
  • Maintain the department procedure manual and ensure content accuracy.
  • Communicate with students requiring proof of attendance and release aid upon verification.
  • Create and mail SAP letters and Exit Counseling communications.
  • Assist with evening office coverage and cash-handling reconciliation.
  • Maintain and track delinquent and default loan mailings.
  • Keep the department's web presence accurate and up-to-date.
  • Scan and organize student records for proper document management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Aid, employees in this positionperform a variety of clerical and support tasks pertaining to the financial aid process. Responsibilities include assisting current and prospective students with financialaid inquiries, FAFSA completion, Loan Entrance Counseling, MPNs, and required financialaid documentation. This position requires the ability to communicate with a highdegree of diplomacy and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality. Requiresknowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid rules and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responds to financial aid inquiries and provides services as necessary for students, faculty, staff, and the public in person, by mail, electronically, and/or via telephone. Assist students on the use of MYGOCC.
  • Performs FAFSA Import and the verification of student files to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Review and award institutional, state, and external scholarships.
  • Monitors enrollment levels and adjust awards as necessary.
  • Maintains work-study contracts, monitors hours, adjusts awards as required, and postjob descriptions online and on campus.
  • Cross-Trained to assist with customer service and walk in traffic within the StudentServices Department.
  • Reviews and maintains the procedure manual for this position.
  • Monitors and communicates with financial aid students requiring proof of attendance. Releases financial aid upon attendance verification.
  • Process Return to Title IV calculations and utilize NSLDS to report student withdrawalswithin the federal regulation timeframe. Notify Business Office of any results requiringaction.
  • Create and mail SAP letters each semester.
  • Identify students requiring Exit Counseling, create and mail letters.
  • Assist with office coverage during evening hours, including receiving payments for the Cashier’s Office. Provide reconciliation to Cashier’s Office as needed.
  • Create and track delinquent and default loan mailings.
  • Evaluate and coordinate the department’s web presence to ensure accurate, relevant, and comprehensible content. Maintain links, revise, update, and compose new contentas needed.
  • Scan and maintain student records, insuring accurate and organized document management.
  • Other duties within the scope of this position as assigned by their supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in a related field.
  • A comprehensive command of grammatical structure, sentence structure, spelling, punctuationand the ability to compose, in good form, various correspondences and mathematicalaptitude.
  • Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel) and other standardoffice machines and equipment.
  • Demonstrated keyboarding ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with financial aid regulations and procedures.
