Our client is one of the larger independent renewable power producers in the United States. They develop, finance, build and operate their own wind, solar and battery storage projects, with a multi-gigawatt operating portfolio and a development pipeline several times that size.
They are expanding their finance systems function, and this is a new role reporting to the Director of Finance Systems. The role holds ownership of the corporate platforms used by the accounting, treasury, procurement, human resources and legal teams. A replacement for the core accounting system is already underway and will be led by the Director of Finance Systems. This role covers the systems that connect to it.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day administration of the corporate finance systems, covering configuration, user access and provisioning, integration settings and system health
- Ownership of master data across those platforms, including legal entities, chart of accounts, vendor records and reporting hierarchies, with governance and change control applied to updates
- Support to the accounting team during monthly close, including data loads into the consolidation, budgeting and planning tools
- Completion of the Planful implementation currently in progress, and ongoing administration of the platform
- Root cause analysis on integration failures across source and destination systems
- Vendor management, covering enhancement backlogs, service levels, ticket response times and advance notice to internal teams on releases that affect them
- Support to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) selection and implementation, focused on how the surrounding systems will interface with the new core
- Recommendations on process improvement, including reporting through Power BI, automation and applications of artificial intelligence
- End user support, along with the user guides and training material required to build self-sufficiency
Requirements:
- At least five years administering corporate or finance systems, either in a dedicated systems role or in a hybrid role that included system ownership
- Hands-on Planful administration is a significant advantage. Comparable planning, consolidation, treasury or ERP platforms are also relevant
- Sufficient accounting knowledge to work effectively with accountants on the close, the chart of accounts and consolidation. Prior experience as an accountant is not required
- A track record of working without close supervision, since the role is expected to identify and drive improvements independently
- Working knowledge of integrations and data mapping, including application programming interfaces (APIs) and middleware
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI
- Experience in a private-equity or institutionally backed business is useful
- A patient and service-oriented approach, as the role supports teams with long tenure and established ways of working
