Job summary

Austin Achieve Public Schools is seeking a Director of Finance Operations to provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and financial systems for roughly 460 employees and all vendor payments across multiple campuses.

This role ensures the integrity, efficiency, and scalability of financial operations as the organization grows, partnering with the CFO, Comptroller, and budget owners while developing staff and strengthening internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required; Master’s degree a plus.
• 5–7+ years of progressive finance experience with payroll and accounts payable responsibility.
• Leadership or team management experience required.
• Experience in Texas public charter schools or independent school districts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and financial systems.
• Build and develop a high‑performing finance operations team.
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
• Oversee vendor onboarding, purchasing workflows, and three‑way matching of POs, invoices, and receipts.
• Maintain internal controls and financial system integrity across operations.
