Job summary

Alila Napa Valley in Napa, CA is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to support the Director of Finance in daily hotel financial operations. You will help with monthly close, forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting in a fast-paced luxury hospitality setting.

This role emphasizes internal controls, GAAP compliance, and collaborating with department leaders to drive profitability, cash management, and operational efficiency while coaching the finance team.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years accounting or finance experience required.
• Hospitality or hotel finance experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with hotel management and accounting systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Finance in overseeing the daily financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
• Analyze financial performance, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Manage and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and cash handling procedures to safeguard hotel assets.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, tax regulations, and GAAP.
• Conduct audits of revenue, cash, and financial transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance, budgeting support, and operational insights.
• Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance financial controls and operational effectiveness.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reports, and required schedules.
• Train, coach and support finance team members while promoting a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.
