Job summary

Hyatt's Alila Napa Valley property seeks an Assistant Finance Manager to join the Finance team in Napa Valley. The role supports daily financial operations, prepares statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports, and works with department leaders to provide financial guidance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in accounting or finance, hospitality experience preferred, strong knowledge of GAAP, and advanced Excel skills to drive accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced luxury hotel

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Finance in overseeing daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
• Analyze financial performance, investigate variances, and advise on profitability improvements.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Assist with month-end/year-end closing, reconciliations and journal entries.
• Monitor cash flow and banking activities, ensuring safeguards over assets.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and tax regulations.
• Conduct audits of revenue and financial transactions; resolve discrepancies.
• Provide financial guidance and budgeting support to department leaders.
• Support process improvements to enhance controls and efficiency.
• Prepare documentation for internal/external audits; train finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Director of Finance in overseeing the daily financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
• Analyze financial performance, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Manage and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and cash handling procedures to safeguard hotel assets.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, tax regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Conduct audits of revenue, cash, and financial transactions, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance, budgeting support, and operational insights.
• Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance financial controls and operational effectiveness.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reports, and required schedules.
• Train, coach and support finance team members while promoting a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.

• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting or finance experience
• Hospitality or hotel finance experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with hotel management and accounting systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
