Shawano County Highway Department is seeking an experienced accounting and office management professional to oversee payroll, general ledger, and accounts payable/receivable within the maintenance and construction of county highway projects.

The role involves supervising staff, coordinating inventory and asset records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with annual budgeting and audits under the Highway Commissioner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Five years of accounting experience or two years of accounting experience with a bachelor’s degree, or any combination of education and progressively responsible experience in a business administration or managerial field.

Responsabilités

• Implements and performs accounting operations and processes for payroll, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash receipts.
• Oversees annual physical inventory process and fixed asset records; reports fixed assets to DOT.
• Prepares monthly financial statements and required journal entries; assists auditors with financial information.
• Under general direction, develops the Department's annual budget; reviews and monitors budget throughout the year; reports and reconciles funding sources.
• Supervises assigned staff, evaluates performance, and supports staff development.
• Maintains department records, files and retention practices; coordinates with Technology Services for software issues.
• Performs other duties of a comparable level/type and assists Highway Commissioner and department managers as requested.
