Finance Manager

Pay Range:$60,000 - $75,000/year (DOE)

Position Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, grant and reimbursement accounting, reporting, compliance, audits, budgeting, and financial process improvement. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial management of multiple funding streams while supporting organizational leadership with financial analysis and reporting.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting and bookkeeping expertise, audit experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Operations
  • Manage accounting and financial operations for multiple grant-funded programs totaling more than $5 million annually.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, budget analyses, and financial projections.
  • Develop and present board-level financial reports and treasurer reports.
  • Complete monthly financial close processes and required state reporting.
  • Monitor spending against budgets and provide financial recommendations to leadership.
  • Support grant budgeting and financial reporting requirements.
Reimbursements & Compliance
  • Review and process monthly reimbursement requests from community partners.
  • Verify supporting documentation and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required financial status reports and compliance documentation.
  • Maintain adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and grant regulations.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and program-specific coding structures.
  • Process ACH payments and support purchasing workflows.
  • Reconcile credit card transactions, expense reports, and monthly account balances.
  • Coordinate with the organization's external accounting firm to ensure accurate records.
Audit & Financial Compliance
  • Lead annual audit preparation and provide supporting schedules, reports, and documentation.
  • Respond to auditor requests and assist with corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor financial compliance of contracted community programs.
  • Support tax-related documentation and reimbursement processes.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
  • Assist with payroll administration through Paychex.
  • Support annual benefits renewals and employee benefit administration.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and personnel-related financial records.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Help implement electronic workflows, purchasing systems, and financial controls.
  • Develop and document procedures to strengthen financial operations and reporting.
Qualifications
Required
  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping background with solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing for and participating in financial audits.

  • Experience implementing financial systems and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of MIP accounting software, Payroll Systems
Work Environment
  • 100% on-site in Monroe, NC.
  • Private office provided.
  • Monday-Friday schedule.
  • Typical hours are 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM.
  • Office closes daily for lunch from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM.
  • Early office closure at 3:00 PM on Fridays.
  • Occasional overtime during audits, reporting periods, and major community events.
