Highgate Hotels is offering a 2027 Finance Internship designed to illustrate how financial decisions shape a hospitality business. You will learn by doing, working with the Accounting and Finance Team to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic hospitality environment.

The program targets students pursuing accounting or finance degrees, with a strong emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint, internal controls, budgeting, and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a related Bachelor's degree; junior status.
• Knowledge of accounting/finance principles.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint required.
• Onsite work required for the internship.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Accounting and Finance Team.
• Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions (A/P, A/R, reconciliations).
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting.
• Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis at the property level.
• Participate in audits, compliance reviews and internal controls.
• Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability.
• Use hotel accounting systems (PeopleSoft, Birchstreet or PMS) under supervision.
• Shadow property finance leaders and participate in professional development sessions.
• Help with month-end close processes and journal entries.
• Assist with various projects as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
