Highgate Hotels, LP in San Francisco is offering a 2027 Finance Internship designed for students pursuing accounting or finance. You will work with the Accounting and Finance Team on daily functions and learn how financial decisions shape hospitality operations.

This 10-week program runs June through August, onsite, and you will gain hands-on experience with monthly statements, forecasting, audits, and internal controls, while shadowing finance leaders and contributing to real projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (in progress) or a similar degree.
• Minimum Junior status.
• Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principals.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills.
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner.
• Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August).
• This position requires an applicant to work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Accounting and Finance Team.
• Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting.
• Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis at the property level.
• Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and internal control procedures.
• Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability.
• Use hotel accounting systems (such as PeopleSoft, Birchstreet, or PMS systems) under supervision.
• Shadow property finance leaders and attend professional development sessions as part of Highgate's internship curriculum.
• Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements.
• Assist with various projects as needed.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
