Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Miami is seeking a 2027 Finance Intern to learn how financial decisions shape hospitality growth. You will work with the Accounting and Finance Team on daily tasks and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic hotel environment.

The program runs June–August for rising juniors or seniors with an interest in finance, Excel and PowerPoint; onsite work, professional development sessions, and exposure to forecasting and monthly reporting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress).
• Minimum Junior status.
• Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principals.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills.
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner.
• Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August).
• This position requires an applicant to work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Accounting and Finance Team.
• Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting.
• Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis at the property level.
• Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and internal control procedures.
• Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability.
• Use hotel accounting systems (such as PeopleSoft, Birchstreet, or PMS systems) under supervision.
• Shadow property finance leaders and attend professional development sessions as part of Highgate’s internship curriculum.
• Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
• Assist with various projects as needed
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
