Job summary

Highgate invites applications for its 2027 Finance Internship in San Francisco, offering hands-on exposure to hospitality finance within a dynamic property finance group. You will work with the Accounting and Finance Team to learn daily accounting tasks, forecasting, budgeting, and financial statement preparation in a real-world hotel environment.

This 10-week program (June–August) is designed for students pursuing accounting/finance degrees, requiring junior status and onsite presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress) or a similar degree
• Minimum Junior status
• Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principals
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner
• Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August)
• This position requires an applicant to work onsite

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Accounting and Finance Team
• Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting
• Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis at the property level
• Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and internal control procedures
• Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability
• Use hotel accounting systems (such as PeopleSoft, Birchstreet, or PMS systems) under supervision
• Shadow property finance leaders and attend professional development sessions as part of Highgate’s internship curriculum
• Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
• Assist with various projects as needed
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
