Job summary

Highgate Hotels is offering a Summer 2027 Finance Internship at the Denver Growth property. This hands-on opportunity lets interns learn how financial decisions shape hotel operations, budgeting, and reporting in a dynamic hospitality setting.

Participants gain exposure to forecasting, month-end close, and variance analysis while working with the Accounting and Finance Team onsite in Denver. The program runs June–August and requires on-site availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress) or a similar degree
• Minimum Junior status
• Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principals
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner
• Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August)
• This position requires an applicant to work onsite

Responsibilities

• Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting.
• Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis at the property level.
• Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and internal control procedures.
• Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability.
• Use hotel accounting systems (such as PeopleSoft, Birchstreet, or PMS systems) under supervision.
• Shadow property finance leaders and attend professional development sessions as part of Highgate's internship curriculum.
• Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
• Assist with various projects as needed
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
