Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington Campus is seeking a seasoned financial administrator to provide budgeting and operational leadership for the Jacobs School of Music. You will work with Chairs, Directors, and faculty to develop realistic budgets and ensure compliance with IU and IUF policies.

The role requires 5 years of relevant experience, a finance-related Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred; CFA preferred), and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is required.
• MBA preferred.
• CFA preferred.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides budgeting and operational leadership of financial activities for the Jacobs School of Music.
• Interprets and ensures compliance with IU/IUF policies, including account management and financial reporting.
• Develops budgets for departments and programs with funding sources from grants and gifts.
• Monitors expenditures and encumbrances against approved budgets and advises on funding options.
• Leads the annual budget preparation process and aligns requests with directives and guidelines.
• Prepares operating and project budget drafts and communicates financial concepts to non-financial staff.
• Explains variances and ensures regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
• May provide training to lower-level staff.
