Job summary

Opalaska is seeking a Controller to own the finance function, drive the monthly close, budgeting, and strategic initiatives. You will lead the accounting team hands-on while partnering with clinical and operations leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Highest level of ethical standards, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least five (5) years of management experience in accounting.
• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or similar; healthcare accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise direct reports by utilizing effective leadership that motivates, inspires and supports the team to perform at the highest levels of engagement and produce the highest-quality outcomes.
• Identify staff needs and provide relevant training for staff growth and development, as well as cross-training team members to ensure adequate back-up and support.
• Stay hands-on in daily operations, providing final review and analysis of bi-weekly payrolls, weekly check runs, and month-end close deliverables.
• Prepare financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses; translate results into forward-looking recommendations for leadership and shareholders.
• Own the annual budget and forecasting process; analyze variances and recommend corrective action to the CFO.
• Monitor cash flow and plan for future investments in collaboration with the CFO.
• Prepare distribution calculations for the practice and holding companies; review contracts and leases for favorable terms.
• Drive process improvements by automating workflows to shorten the close cycle and reduce manual effort.
