Job summary

Kiewit Power Market seeks a Finance Analyst Intern to support accounting and finance tasks on projects ranging from $1M to $4B. You’ll assist with cost control, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, human capital management, and monthly close, becoming skilled in cost/revenue components across labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts.

The role is part of Operational Finance and will involve field-office rotation, with relocation/travel up to 50% required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, and/or equivalent degree
• Must be legally authorized to work without sponsorship
• Ability to relocate anywhere in the country
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Travel and/or relocation may be required (up to 50%)
• Experience with Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, and other key Excel functions is preferred
• Effective communication (oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills
• Good attention to detail with ability to recognize discrepancies
• Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and continuous improvement
• Must be able to access all parts of a construction site in various climates
• Ability to work independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Recognizes the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs and helping in other areas as needed
• Fosters relationships with the Operations team and shows a willingness to learn about the work
• Understands payroll and HR process workflow and masters systems used to hire, transfer, terminate, and pay employees
• Comprehends how goods are purchased, invoices are received and paid, and maintains purchasing workflow internal controls
• Demonstrates understanding of the accounts payable process workflow and can troubleshoot payment or vendor issues
• Understands intercompany and client billing workflow and the effects of timely, accurate billing on cash management
• Ensures all cost and cost adjustments are reviewed for accuracy to meet standards and accounting rules
• Reviews costs, budget structures and exception reports and makes corrections for accurate reporting
• Identifies and reviews forecast and budget issues with cost reports for proper recognition of cost and revenue
• Displays high-quality customer service and a collaborative attitude
• Maintains organized work environment, time management, and clear communication
• Follows Corporate Compliance to implement EEO and labor laws at project level
