Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Accounting Intern at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska. The position reports to the Controller and involves assisting with accounting, financial and clerical tasks during the summer 2027 program.

The student must be enrolled in an accredited program (12+ credits) with a major in accounting, finance or related field; accounting major and junior/senior standing are preferred.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university with 12+ semester credits or 8+ quarter units
Accounting major and junior/senior standing preferred
Internship must be in student’s field of study

Responsibilities

Provide accounting, financial, administrative and clerical support for the District
Assist with completion of account reconciliations and review financial transactions
Prepare presentations, schedules and other information on financial results for management
Research accounting policies and share guidance to ensure compliance with government standards
Identify opportunities to utilize S4/HANA and related tools
Assist with tax, grant and other report filings
Compile annual metrics and benchmarking analyses
Document processes and user instructions
