Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Customer Care Intern - Summer 2027 at the Norfolk Customer Care Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. The internship is temporary and entry-level, reporting to the Customer Services Lead.

The student will assist customers with inquiries, requests, and outage calls, including after-hours support, and will use NPPD systems such as SOS, Cisco, and SharePoint. Housing stipends are available for interns.

Qualifications

• The student must be enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college/university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or eight quarter units with freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior standing in a related major and must maintain enrollment throughout the internship.
• Excellent keyboarding skills (minimum of 35 words per minute), completion of written and grammar skills test, and the ability to present oneself in a professional manner is required.
• College credit may apply to some internships.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by providing knowledge-based solutions to customer issues.
• Assist customers with inquiries, requests, and outage calls after normal business hours.
• Reference procedures and reference documents to ensure information accuracy.
• Effectively use NPPD systems such as SOS, Cisco phone system, and SharePoint to complete tasks.
• Follow NPPD safety processes and procedures; report to the Customer Services Lead.
