Job summary

TMC Transportation, Inc. is seeking a Dedicated Final Mile Fleet Manager to lead dedicated drivers, optimize routes and scheduling, and drive performance and safety metrics from our Des Moines, IA office.

The role focuses on achieving on-time deliveries, maximizing revenue, and maintaining an excellent safety record, while coaching drivers and coordinating with customers and labor resources.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Transportation/Logistics or related field experience.
• Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Accept orders, optimize routes, and plan delivery schedules for productivity and efficiency.
• Dispatch loads to drivers with load information and routing requirements.
• Arrange for additional labor for deliveries as needed.
• Track drivers to ensure on-time delivery according to schedule.
• Communicate with drivers and customers to resolve delivery issues promptly.
• Notify customers of issues that might affect expectations or load assignments.
• Promote safety and adherence to drivers' hours of availability.
• Focus on driver retention by understanding needs and monitoring performance.
• Identify, track, and resolve performance issues via driver evaluations and meetings.
• Resolve driver conflicts regarding home time, pay, equipment, and loads.
• Maintain and submit driver payroll records weekly.
• Ensure awareness of and enforce company policies.
• Maintain records on driver performance and productivity.
• Track equipment maintenance and schedule repairs.
• Participate in driver training including moffett forklifts.
