Job summary

MBP is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector I to support field compliance, quality assurance, and documentation on active transportation projects across multiple Virginia sites including Roanoke, Salem, Martinsville, and surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate will bring progressive field inspection experience, ability to coordinate with agencies and contractors, and a drive to maintain schedules and budgets while documenting all activities with precision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent construction experience.
• Working mathematics including algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric computations based on field measurements.
• Experience inspecting transportation and building projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and web-based tools.
• Ability to obtain required certifications within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a MBP representative on active construction sites, verifying conformance with specifications and codes.
• Coordinate with agency personnel, contractors, MBP team members to address discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Document project activities and field issues affecting schedule, budget, and compliance.
• Review payment applications with guidance from senior team members; assist with project records and reporting.
• Perform field checks of as-built plans and conduct on-site inspections for conformance to plans and codes.
• Maintain project records including diaries, photos, and inspection reports; track submittals and RFIs.
