Job summary

MBP is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector I to support field compliance, quality assurance, and documentation on active transportation and building projects in Virginia. You will inspect roads, bridges, and related facilities, coordinate with agencies and contractors, and advance payment applications while maintaining thorough project records.

The role requires progressive inspection experience, OSHA or DOT familiarity, and the ability to gain certifications within 18 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent construction experience.
• Working mathematics including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Construction-related training and experience demonstrating ability to perform duties.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, internet navigation, and specialized equipment.
• Knowledge of MBP systems such as OnTrack or ability to learn within one month of hire.
• Construction materials, methods, and tools used in inspection and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Serve as MBP representative on active construction sites ensuring conformance with specifications and codes.
• Coordinate with agency personnel, contractors, and MBP team members to address discrepancies and corrective actions.
• Document project activities and field issues that affect schedule, budget targets, and compliance.
• Review payment applications with guidance from senior team members.
• Prepare daily reports, diaries, and project records; perform basic surveying and measurements.
• Assist in development of pay applications and project estimates; track submittals and RFIs.
