Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) in North Carolina is seeking experienced Engineering Technicians/Construction Inspectors for multiple CEI opportunities across Division 14 (Sylva, Waynesville, Hendersonville, Franklin, Murphy). These roles support transportation projects and require NCDOT certifications.

Ideal candidates have roadway and bridge inspection experience, HS diploma or higher, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Above average math and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer skills.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily observation of construction activities and document activities on required reports/forms.
• Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
• Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
• Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
• Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
• Perform accurate calculations and computations.
• Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
• Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
• Recording Daily Work Reports to include quantities and an objective description of the work shift activities.
