Job summary

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking experienced Engineering Technicians/Construction Inspectors for multiple upcoming opportunities in Division 11 (Boone, NC and surrounding area). On-site roles require NCDOT CEI certifications and prior CEI experience. Responsibilities include daily construction observation, materials review, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Above average math and problem-solving skills are required.
• Ability to learn new computer skills and adapt to new technologies.
• Must communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fleet drivers must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment screening; ICE is a drug-free workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily observation of construction activities and document on required reports/forms.
• Review construction materials for contract and specification compliance.
• Inspect roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Evaluate structural materials, placement of culverts, and structural operations such as foundation excavation.
• Monitor placement of pilings, reinforcing and structural steel, concrete, and backfill.
• Verifies lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations using survey and field engineering equipment.
• Perform accurate calculations and computations.
• Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet project specifications.
• Review contractor submittals for conformance to project documents and specifications.
• Document and report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to supervisor.
• Recording Daily Work Reports to include quantities and an objective description of work shift activities.
