Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States is seeking a field service technician specializing in power transformers. The role involves on-site and remote services, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and retrofits.

You will work from electrical and mechanical drawings, perform internal transformer work, and operate oil processing equipment. The position requires travel up to 85% and lifting up to 50 lb, with CDL a plus.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
• Strong knowledge of transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing.
• Experience with Load Tap Changer (LTC) maintenance and repair and transformer tank welding is a plus.
• Ability to travel up to 85% and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-site and remote transformer services including installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings and manuals to complete work.
• Perform internal transformer work: bushing connections, tapping, crimping, and joints.
• Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment with appropriate tools.
• Operate vacuum oil processors and oil-handling equipment and maintain logs.
• Coordinate resources and parts for field service jobs.
• Anticipate customer needs and identify additional sales opportunities.
• Suggest product and process improvements to enhance service quality.
