Job summary

D Fendsolutions is seeking a Field Training and Support Engineer to serve as the technical cornerstone of our U.S. Customer Success organization.

You will be the primary product expert for our counter-UAS hardware and software, leading training, supporting partners, and delivering advanced technical assistance. Based in McLean, VA, you will travel 50–75% to customer sites, conduct on‑site surveys and installations, and develop manuals, SOPs, and best‑practice guides to empower end‑users and

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years in Field Engineering, Technical Training, or Professional Services within a high‑tech hardware/software environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge of RF systems and Counter-UAS technology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and scaling third‑party service providers or channel partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (Highly Preferred).

  • Act as the primary technical lead for external service partners. Evaluate, train, and manage these partners to maintain high field delivery standards.
  • Maintain an exhaustive understanding of RF‑based C‑UAS technology and bridge field reality with internal engineering teams.
  • Serve as a Tier 2 support escalation point for complex issues and participate in a support rotation.
  • Oversee or support on‑site surveys and installations, configurations, and system testing for RF environments.
  • Create and validate technical manuals, Statements of Work (SOW), and best‑practice guides for end‑users and partners.

Field Training and Support Engineer

This position serves as the technical cornerstone of our U.S. Customer Success organization. The engineer will be the primary product expert for D-Fend’s counter‑UAS (C‑UAS) hardware and software, leading training, supporting partners, and providing advanced technical assistance.

Responsibilities
  • Training Leadership: Lead high‑impact in‑person and virtual training sessions for D-Fend’s hardware and software suites. Develop and enhance training curricula that cover existing features and future product capabilities.
  • Partner Management: Act as the primary technical lead for external service partners. Evaluate, train, and manage these partners to ensure they maintain D-Fend’s high standards for field delivery and support.
  • Product Subject Matter Expertise: Maintain an exhaustive understanding of RF‑based C‑UAS technology. Act as the “voice of the product” for U.S. customers, bridging the gap between field reality and internal engineering teams.
  • Advanced Technical Support: Serve as a Tier 2 support escalation point. Diagnose and resolve complex system issues and participate in a support rotation to provide seamless coverage for critical client needs.
  • Field Deployment & Integration: Oversee or support on‑site surveys and installations, configurations, and system testing, ensuring hardware and software are optimized for specific RF environments.
  • Documentation & Strategy: Create and validate technical manuals, Statements of Work (SOW), and best‑practice guides for end‑users and partners.
Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of experience in Field Engineering, Technical Training, or Professional Services within a high‑tech hardware/software environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) systems and Counter‑UAS (C‑UAS) technology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and scaling third‑party service providers or channel partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (Highly Preferred).
Travel & Availability
  • Work primarily from the McLean, VA office.
  • Travel domestically and occasionally internationally to customer sites (estimated 50–75% depending on training schedule).
  • Willingness to participate in a support rotation, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs during field deployments.
