Job summary

Flagger Force, LLC in Ohio seeks a Field Trainer 2 to lead classroom and on-the-job training, coaching and developing field employees while promoting safety and quality standards aligned with our values.

You will deliver expert hands-on instruction, assess performance, mentor junior instructors, and drive engagement across diverse training classes and field assignments, including site readiness and equipment safety.

Qualifications

• Expertise in hands-on field training techniques.
• Ability to identify and support student career development.
• Proficient in maintaining high student engagement levels.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and manage time effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Must hold all required Department of Transportation qualifications for assigned territory.
• Valid driver's license.
• Maintain valid internal training certifications through Flagger Force Academy.
• Preferred: 1+ year experience with Flagger Force or similar traffic control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert hands-on training and classroom instruction with safety and quality focus.
• Identify and support student career development and provide guidance for advancement.
• Enhance and maintain high student engagement across training classes.
• Provide classroom instruction as needed, ~50% of monthly assignments.
• Administer hands-on training for various courses and ensure practical skill application.
• Test and evaluate students, record grades, and dismiss non-eligible students.
• Monitor student engagement and learning levels throughout training.
• Review training materials for accuracy and relevance.
• Identify potential instructor candidates and assist in developing junior instructors.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom and manage materials inventory.
• Provide field on-the-job training ~50% of monthly assignments.
• Lead external portions of the Basic Work Zone training and DRIVE program as required.
• Provide daily support, coaching, and guidance on best practices to field employees.
• Submit completed BWZ checklists to the Training team.
• Manage field employee performance with on-site coaching for site setup and PPE usage.
• Work with Risk Training and Operations to identify employees needing coaching.
• Represent the organization professionally to clients, employees, and the public.
• Assume field employee responsibilities as needed and participate in department meetings.
• Maintain internal training certifications through Flagger Force Academy.
• Assist safety personnel with incident investigations.
• Collaborate with peers and managers to align with Flagger Force processes.
• Travel within 1-2 hours from home frequently; overnight stays possible.
