Job summary

SPC Mechanical Corporation seeks a Craft Development Instructor to advance workforce development by delivering new hire training and ongoing skills training for field and fabrication shop employees across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal trades.

You will provide hands-on coaching at active jobsites, reinforce safety and quality standards in real time, and partner with the Talent Development Partner to ensure training aligns with SPC's needs.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of trade work or experience as a trade instructor.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to coach individuals and small groups in the field.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training programs and schedules.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly across SPC regions.

Responsibilities

• New Hire Training: onboarding and hands-on skills training across plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal trades.
• Continuing Education & Skills Development: ongoing training to reinforce installation and fabrication practices.
• Jobsite Coaching: observe work and provide hands-on correction in real time.
• Subject Matter Expertise: stay current on industry trends, codes, materials, and best practices.
• Curriculum & Material Development: create/update training materials, lesson plans, and assessments.
• Performance Evaluation & Feedback: assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Mentorship & Team Development: mentor field and shop employees to support long-term trade growth.
• Weekly Training Reporting: summarize activities, attendance, and progress for stakeholders.
• Ongoing Class Reporting: track class status, completion rates, and needs.
• Cross-Functional Communication: align training with project and shop priorities.
• Safety Culture: reinforce safe work practices in training and coaching.
